Winnebago InfoCenter

Do any of you out there have libraries using Winnebago's InfoCenter? I have a librarian who would like to speak with another director who is running it as she is thinking of upgrading.

Any thoughts about it? Any contacts she could make?

Thanks!
Liz

Pete at Independence PL tried it and decided against it, as I recall.

Liz, we had a library beta test the InfoCentre and I was in on all the setup and testing. We decided not to go with InfoCentre. There were a number of problems and the cost of hardware upgrades were pretty steep. We had a server with 1 1/2 GB of RAM and it was not enough. Staff computers were very slow running at 512 MB of RAM. There are lots of other things but we can not share because we signed an agreement not to disclose. I brought up the memory requirements because they have been discussed on the listserv.

THIS JUST IN: Pete Daniels in Independence actually IS using info center. That's all I know about it, it is not officially one of "my" libraries. See his contact info above.

I am not entirely sure what the value of this product would be for that particular library, but what do *I* know.

I may be many things, but I have never been called a bomb diggle before, ever. Ahhh, to be young and trendy.
